When I first saw a note of this course on our departments notice board I thought "At last something on didactical mathematics!" and signet up right away. I have to admit, that I was waiting for something more related to my future-job as a comprehensive- or high school teacher, but...
The material I got (at my home, thank you Martti!) was slightly confusing; Was I supposed to do those exercises or not? Some kind of instructions would have been nice to have... So we did some of those exercises at home with ISETL with a friend who was also coming to this course.
The first impression at Thursday (July 30) was that I'm in a wrong place
at the wrong time. I began to be sure of that when Ed asked:
"How many of you is teaching at the university-level?" It was "a bit"
strange to be at a course with some personnel of our department...
After all I decided to stay and to take what ever is coming. After first day I was exhausted because of all the information I'd got. After two months of "sleep-mode" in my brains was language a small problem too...
The second and third day went with computers. I'm very comfortable with computers, but still I got the feeling, that two days was enough, maybe even too much to deal with. I would like to pay more attention to "Reflections on morning activities" than to working on computers. I would also have been nice to see some examples of applications for comprehensive- or high school too.
Last day (Monday, August 3) began in especially interesting way by Asuman's lecture about distance-teaching. After her's lecture we returned AGAIN to work on computers... (by the way, I consider portable computers very "interesting" or "challancing" or what ever... I hate them!).
So in my opinion this course was interesting and quite well organized,
but I would reduce the time used on computers and add it to lectures and
reflection.
