Swimming pool
The refurbished University swimming pool became fully operational on 24 January 2013. It now provides all members with new changing facilities, an improved reception and entrance hall and a new viewing platform. Memberships are available to staff, students and members of the public.
Location
The pool is situated beneath the Richmond Building with an entrance in Richmond Hill Avenue.
Facilities
The pool is approximately 33.5m long by 12.8m wide. The shallow end is 1.2m and the deep end 3.8m.
Activities
Our programmes include swimming lessons for learners and improvers, swimming for health and recreation, competitive swimming, synchronised swimming, water-polo (men and women), sub-aqua, canoeing, bat-polo, life-saving and aqua-fit (to music).
Teaching or coaching is provided in most aspects by PE staff, or within Athletic Union clubs; or by close liaison with local competitive clubs who also use the pool (e.g. Learn to Swim, Improving Strokes, Swimming for Health and Fitness, aqua-fit, water-polo and synchronised swimming).
