Indoor pools have become increasingly popular in the UK with clients and their families wishing to have leisure facilities at home convenient for use and available all year round.
The rapid expansion of the UK market has been encouraged by advances in technology, particularly in the areas of pool room air handling and pool and spa water sanitising. Moisture-laden chlorine-filled, fuggy indoor pools are now a thing of the past.
Pool and spa water can be sanitised on a minimal chlorine basis with the primary disinfectant being ultra-violet ozone. This is generated within the plant room and transferred into the pool water where it eliminates germs, bacteria and viruses. Once generated, ozone dissipates almost immediately so that water within the pool is virtually ozone free.
A minimal amount of chlorine is used to provide “residual disinfectant”, which can be maintained at the low level of 0.5 ppm to 1.0 ppm. This is similar to the chlorine level in tap water. This technology has transformed pool water, which can now be odour free and tastes much the same as drinking water.
Controlled humidity and ventilation ensure pool rooms can be used all year round in comfort. The pool room will be the ideal area for general family relaxing and entertaining, as well as providing an enjoyable swimming facility.
