The Welsh Dragon Bar is known as the first and quite possibly the only Welsh bar in the Southern Hemisphere!

Founded several years ago by Joe and Mike Howard. This historic old pub has fine tradional food and several good beers and wines. The hospitality is warm and welcoming just like the welsh valley hospitality.

Originally this Dome shaped building was once known locally as the "Taj Mahal" this pub is situated on a traffic island and began it's life as toilets for the trams. However, the pub has used its “Brains” and adopting a clever Welsh theme and play on words which embraces its past by encouraging patrons to "Come in for a leek" !!

This pub is full of memborilla which includes, signed rugby jersey, flags and welsh memorabilia on the walls which allows patrons to the spot the Welsh celebs who has visited the bar. Needless to say you can always get an opinion about rugby in this bar as Welsh Rugby can feature a lot in the conversations here, as most of the staff here are in fact Welsh.

The bar offers a wonderful variety of welsh fare, such as faggots and peas, leek and potatoe soup, cawl and a cracking Sunday roast to name a few dishes. You can wash all this fine food down with some wonderful local and welsh beers and the wine list has a good selection and are very reasonably priced.
