Alexander's karonkka was organized in Pursiseura (Yacht club) which was
one of our most popular karonkka places at the times with traditional
wooden villa with option to sauna+swim.
Before Olli Virmajoki's and Mantao Xu's dissertations I remember visiting
Alexander's shared office for asking ideas about what to present to them
with the words like "What does Olli like?". Both times I got only silence
with the exception of Alexander who spontaneous replied: "Fast cars?"
Since then, I knew what we would buy for Alexander. Unfortunately our
budget is tight and did not allow to purchase original full size model
as such, so we presented him a camera instead to catch at least pictures
of fast cars. Few samples were shown to him. You can see the excitment
from Alexander's face.
Since Alexander is originally from St.Petersburg, I had purchased calendar
of 2006 during my earlier visit there. Although the year was almost over
there are anyway nice pictures to remember the year 2006: a calendar from
Alexander's home town.
While a conference trip to ICIP in Atlanta, Alexey had found a baseball
helmet, which we presented with two reasons: (1) the most important assess
of young doctor is his brain, and therefore, it must be protected.
(2) On the other hand, some people might not like too smart people so
sometimes protecting the face might also be useful. The helmet is
from American baseball.
The story of the other presents is unknown but the night continued long
and celebration turned from pantomines to air guitas and wilde dances;
not to forget about later night deep conversations. Couple of selected shots
