Maria Sokolyanskaya, MA Fashion Artefact, London College of Fashion.

As well as meeting the eligibility criteria on this page, you must also have made an application to study a full-time qualifying Masters course starting in 2015/16 at one of our six Colleges. Qualifying Masters include those that offer M ARCH, MA, MDes, MFA, MRes and MSc awards.

If you already have a Masters qualification that is in an art, design, fashion, communication or performing arts discipline taught at Univeristy of the Arts London you cannot apply for any type of Vice-Chancellor's Postgraduate Scholarship.

If your Masters qualification is in a different subject area you are able to make a scholarship application if you satisfy all other eligibility criteria. You will then be asked as a secondary part of the application process to provide a supporting statement outlining why you are now looking to undertake postgraduate studies in your chosen art, design, fashion, communication or performing arts field.

Vice-Chancellor's UK and EU Postgraduate Scholarships

There are over 100 scholarships available to those meeting the eligibility criteria defined below. A scholarship provides a 50% tuition fee waiver.

  • Your personal income must be £35,000 or less (or the equivalent exchange value in an EU member state currency) at the point of scholarship application.

As an example, a personal income of £35,000 is around €44,812. Visit the Oanda Trade Currency Exchange website for an up-to-date currency conversion.

At the point of application you’ll be asked to evidence your personal income (from all sources) with documentation, whether you are employed, unemployed or currently studying. For example, if you are:

Employed and/or have other types of personal income:
A copy of your employment contract or copies of your payslips covering a period of three months. Other types of personal income include share certificates or dividend statements for stocks, shares or bonds.

Unemployed and/or in receipt of benefits:
A copy of your latest award letter for any benefits you receive.

    Studying:
A copy of any award notices of student financial support for 2014/15.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis from the acknowledgement date of your completed scholarship application and submission of supporting evidence.

Final allocation will be subject to gaining a place on your chosen Masters course at one of our Colleges.

Vice-Chancellor's International Postgraduate Scholarships

There are ten £25,000 scholarships available to those meeting the eligibility criteria defined below.

  • You need to be ordinarily resident in a country with a low income economy as defined using the World Bank Atlas method.

See below for the full list of qualifying countries. Acceptance of the scholarship offer is on the condition that you will return to your home country on completion of your Masters course.

Scholarships will be awarded by a UAL selection panel. The panel will make their decision based on a review of the personal statements provided as part of the Vice-Chancellor’s International Postgraduate Scholarships application process.

Final allocation will be subject to gaining a place on your chosen full-time Masters course at one of our six Colleges.

How to apply for a Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship

If you’ve made an application to study one of the full-time qualifying Masters courses and satisfy the eligibility criteria, the first step to applying for a Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship is to register your interest by completing our enquiry form

We’ll then send you full details about how to apply and the supporting evidence you’ll need to send us to confirm your eligibility.

Note: If you were offered a place on a qualifying full-time Masters course in 2014/15 but chose to defer your place to start in the academic year of 2015/16 instead, you can apply for a Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria and your deferral request to start your course in 2015/16 has been accepted by UAL.

If you were offered a Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship in 2014/15 but chose not to accept the award you can re-apply for the 2015/16 scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria. Please be aware that because you were offered an award in 2014/15 this does not guarantee you will also be a successful applicant in 2015/16. You will be subject to the same application and allocation process as all other eligible applicants.

The closing date for registering your interest is 9am GMT on Monday 25 May 2015 and the closing date for scholarship applications is 4pm GMT on Friday 29 May 2015.

If you don’t satisfy the eligibility criteria for a Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship, take a look at the other scholarships, bursaries and awards available to UAL postgraduate students.

Note that successful scholarship applicants can only be awarded one scholarship per course, per year. Awarded scholarships may be used in conjunction with other bursaries and grant payments, subject to the terms of those schemes.

The information provided is correct at the time of publication. University of the Arts London reserves the right to make changes to the published eligibility criteria and application process. Enquirers and applicants will be notified if any changes are made.

Other funding options

As well as our Vice-Chancellor's Postgraduate Scholarships we have a range of other scholarships, bursaries and awards to help make postgraduate study easier for you to finance, including our Postgraduate Support Scheme.

If your undergraduate course began in or after September 2012, you could be entitled to a Postgraduate Support Scheme award of £10,000 to study a Masters course at one of our six Colleges in 2015/16 (subject to meeting other eligibility criteria). Find out if you can apply.
