Location-based Services

Location-based Services (LBS) are services offered through a mobile device that take into account the geographical location of the user. The amount of location-based data collected by users is growing every second and is becoming difficult to manage. In this video, we explain and present solutions to such problems.

Courses:

Location-aware mobile application development
The course begins with a background of location-aware applications including positioning and mapping. It then changes focus on app development using web technologies (HTML and Javascript). Necessary server-side solutions are covered and provided via API. Case studies of popular apps are covered during the last part of the lecture.

Location-aware machine intelligence
The course focuses on application of machine intelligence on location-aware applications. Selected research topics include (but not limited to) the following topics: search engines, recommendation systems, web mining, event detection, clustering, social networks, GPS tracectory analysis, road network extraction.
