Welcome to the Anchor Inn
The Anchor Inn is a traditional country inn and restaurant nestled in the Stour Valley, in the picturesque village of Nayland. Perched on the banks of the River Stour, The Anchor enjoys stunning views across the river to beautiful countryside.
On the menu you’ll find traditional British cuisine with a twist, cooked fresh to order. Ingredients are sourced locally where possible and our menus are changed seasonally to respect what is at its freshest and best.
Behind the bar is an impressive selection of quality local and regional cask ales, international beers, wines from around the globe and a range of soft drinks plus freshly brewed tea and coffee.
Whether you’re joining us for an evening drink with friends, meeting for lunch or joining us for an intimate evening meal, The Anchor is a place to relax and enjoy great food and drink by the Stour.

The Anchor always has a great selection of top quality ales available from local and national brewers; with our Cask Marque Award of Excellence it is guaranteed to be a top pint.
We’ve even got our own Abell Ale on the pumps. Named after the builder of the bridge across the Stour, we’re sure Mr Abell frequented the Anchor several centuries ago.
