ABSTRACT
The goal of the
project is to produce methods for dynamic map
handling in mobile environment with low computing
and storage resources. The project utilizes
previously developed map image storage format, in
which the maps are stored in compressed raster
formats in separated logical binary layers. The
goal of the project is to support automatic
conversions from other raster and vector formats,
and to dynamically build map from smaller image
fragments. In this way, we can design cheap and
low resource dynamic map handling system for the
client device, which is capable of composing maps
from smaller image blocks independent on their
location and the original format. The
applications of the methodology can be found in
personal navigation.
