A) Open IBM SPSS Statistics through Desktop or Start-menu.
Open the previously used data.
Select Analyze -> Compare Means->Means.
Set the variables(here: exam 1 and exam2) into Dependent List.
Set the grouping variable gender into Independent List.
Click OK.
Thus, you will get means and standard deviations by the gender :
Select Analyze->Compare Means->Independent-Samples T-Test....
Set the Test Variable(s) (here : exam 1 and exam 2).
Set the grouping variable gender as Grouping Variable and click Define Groups....
Set the code 1 for the group 1 ( = boys) and code 2 for the group 2 ( = girls) and click Continue.
Finally, click OK.
Thus, you will see the following results :
The title can be changed by clicking the Title and by inputting a new description.

Close the output-window by clicking X
